We invite you to join us for worship on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. at 1030 East Casino Road, Everett, WA 98203, across the street from Cascade High School.
If you have small children, they are welcome to stay with you or in our nursery. Elementary-aged children and youth join the main service and are excused after worship for their age-based programs.
After serving First Presbyterian Church of Spokane for three years as their Director of Contemporary Worship, Luke pursued graduate education and received a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA, graduating in 2006 with a concentration in Worship, Theology, and the Arts through Fuller's innovative Brehm Center. It continues to be his passion to see God's people enrich and expand their worship life together, deepening the intentionality of their action, broadening the creativity of their expression, and widening the scope of their love.
In the fall of 2006, Luke was ordained to the Ministry of Word & Sacrament in the PC(USA), and joined the staff of First Presbyterian Church of Libertyville, IL (in the northern suburbs of Chicago) as their Associate Pastor for Worship and Evangelism. He is grateful to God for the blessing of nearly 10 years of ministry with that congregation, where they started and grew a new worship service together, served their neighbors in the community, and cared for one another as a family of faith.
Their years in the Midwest have seen them enter many new phases of life, the most significant being parenthood. Their daughter Eliza was born in 2010 and is the delight of their hearts. Spending time together as a family is their favorite way to relax, whether they are having adventures travelling or staying at home. Luke enjoys many outdoor activities - especially Ultimate Frisbee! - and loves watching and discussing good movies. He is also a composer and singer-songwriter, with two songs published in a recent worship resource, Psalms for All Seasons (FaithAlive, 2012), and a new CD of original songs entitled "Pilgrim Miles" that has just released.
Cascade View Presbyterian is beyond thrilled that Pastor Luke has decided to make our church his new home!
Katie Splinter (Administrative Assistant) joined us in May 2015, and is in the office Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday, 10am - 2pm. On her off time, Katie enjoys gardening, baking, and hanging out with her young son (Nathan, born July 2014) and husband (Brian). They have a pet chihuahua, Danny, who is very protective of Nathan.
Katie's husband, Brian, works for Snohomish County as a Designated Mental Health Professional. He also runs a small private therapy practice. With Brian being so busy, Katie has a great deal of time to spend with Nathan doing fun things around their new home in Lake Stevens.
During the week, Merrie Johnson (pianist) works at a Parent Co-Op School in the Edmonds School District teaching 375 Kindergarten through 6th grade students. As a young person, she was always involved in music and youth activities at Bellevue First Presbyterian Church, and got her BA in Music Education at Pacific Lutheran University. Merrie’s husband, Curtis, is an electrician with Local 46 and specializes in industrial and commercial work. They have a daughter who is currently in Nursing School. Merrie has played piano since she was 7, and rarely goes a day without practicing before leaving home. She loves to play, and strives to give God praise through music.
Soprano, Elizabeth Ann Johnson (Music Director) recently returned to her hometown of Seattle after spending many years in the Boston area. She is a graduate of Seattle University and holds Masters of Music degrees in Voice and Opera from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA. She was a church soloist and sang solo repertoire with choral groups in the Boston area, as well as appearing in opera roles with Boston Bel Canto Opera. She taught voice for many years, most recently at the Yamaha Music School of Boston and Concord Conservatory of Music. She conducted the Yamaha Youth Choir and was a substitute conductor at St. James Episcopal Church in Cambridge, MA. As a conductor and musician, finding the joy and pure expression in the music are her motivators and vehicles to beauty and to God.
