We start out the year with the opportunity to help one of the families who lost their home in the West Casino Road apartment fire on New Year's Eve. This family is made up of 9 family members. In addition to the parents, there is a 2 year old boy, a 7 year old boy, an 11 year old girl, a 15 year old boy, a 19 year old boy, a 20 year old boy, and a 22 year old boy. This family lost everything in the fire. Currently they are living at a Red Cross shelter hoping to have their application for housing approved. This is expected any day now.
Pam Robinson has been in contact with the people from the Hand in Hand Kids organization and the family has only beds right now. It was agreed that we would focus on kitchen and bathroom supplies to start. There will be a sign-up sheet out in the Narthex on Sunday, January 24th. Please list anything that you would be willing to help provide (e.g. pots and pans, bakeware, dish towels, coffee pot, microwave oven, mixing bowls, cooking utensils, flatware, dishes, cups, glasses, canisters, mixer, bathroom towels, bathmats, shower curtains,etc.). If anyone has living room or dining room furniture, a TV, etc. that they can donate, that would be much appreciated as well.

Shower to the People
One of our members, Frank Fargo, is the man behind Shower to the People. Along with his wife, they provide showers to as many as 65 homeless people per week. Showers are available weekly on Wednesdays at First Presbyterian Church in Everett (5:00pm), and on Saturdays at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lynnwood (noon). With each shower, every person receives a pair of socks, underwear, and a shirt. Towels, wash cloths, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are also provided. If you would like to donate, check out their wishlist on Amazon. Donations may also be dropped off to the Cascade View Presbyterian Church office. Shower to the People is a ministry of Cascade View Presbyterian Church, and all donations are tax deductible.
